Oliver Kahn Says, Lack of Match Practice Could be Problem for Jens Lehmann in EURO 2008

German goal keeper Jens Lehmann is going though a tough time these days. He is not the first choice of Arsenal starting line up anymore. Manager Arsene Wenger features him in lesser important matches. So, there is rumor on the air that if Lehmann will be able to hold his national team place ahead of the EURO 2008 football tournament. Germany’s former captain Oliver Kahn has alarmed that it could be dangerous for Germany to feature someone who has lost his place in the club. Kahn lost his place to Lehmann, ahead of the 2006 world cup.

Earth Times reported:

"It's a problem, Jens knows that as well. It's a dangerous thing, a dangerous path," Kahn said at Bayern Munich's training camp at

Marbella, Spain.

He said Lehmann was good enough to be be in goal for Germany despite losing his place in the Arsenal team, but the lack of match practice could be a problem against top sides at the June 7-29 Euro tournament in Austria and Switzerland.

"It surprises me that he is not seeking every opportunity to get match practice," Kahn said.
