ITV to be Affected By England’s Failure to Qualify in EURO 2008

ITV Network, a popular television network in Europe, is determined to increase ITV1’s rating performance this year. ITV’s director of television, Simon Shaps insists that they will remain among the top class commercial broadcasters. However, ITV1 will be affected by England’s not getting into EURO 2008 competition. This is fact that Simon Shaps has also admitted.

Telegraph reported:

Last week, it was reported that ITV was in advanced negotiations with NBC to make a UK version of the long-running US police series Law & Order. "As an indication of the kinds of things we're thinking about, Law & Order is absolutely right: extendable, fresh," said Mr Shaps.

He also played down suggestions that ITV1's ratings performance will be harmed in 2008 by England failing to qualify for Euro 2008, whose matches ITV will share with the BBC.

"I'm disappointed as a football fan and disappointed running ITV1 that England aren't going to be there," he said.
